The R&A launched the Women in Golf Charter in May 2018, supported by England Golf and other organisations from across the industry.
The purpose is to encourage more women and girls to play the game and join clubs, to inspire more families to enjoy golf as a group leisure activity and to open up more opportunities for women to work within the golf industry.
We at Lincoln Golf Club are so pleased to be involved with this international initiative and to have recently received our formal accreditation.
The Charter is a a statement of intent from the golf industry and we at Lincoln Golf Club intend using the Charter to develop and implement a stratgey for enhancing gender balance at every level. We intend to achieve this not just by the Charter Commitments detailed in our objectives but also to use the Charter as a tool to encourage a new approach to decision making throughout the club go ing forward.
The signed copy of our Women in Golf Charter can be found by clicking here. This document not only provides details of the inititiative but also the objectives for our club and how we intend to achieve them. Here at Lincoln Golf Club our Charter Champion is Helen Morris working alongside our Lady Captain, Denise Hadfield. Together with Louis Booth, Manager and Marion Matthews, Administrator they form the Steering Group for the Charter here at Lincon Golf Club.
We intend to regular monitor our progress and ensure that Members are are always kept fully updated with our achievements. Whilst some changes may seem smaller than others such as a change to our terminology and approach, others will be much more visible such as gender neutral tees. However all changes, whether large or small, are playing a part in developing an improved culture and environment for women in golf.
One of the first objectives we hope to achieve is to recruit a woman to the Membership Group where a position has recently become available. The Membership Group are the vital voice of all Members of our club and are the link to the Management Team and the Board providing feedback throughout the year and during the formal reporting of the annual Members Survey.
